Recently, someone on TikTok commented asking if it was true that in True/False/Not Given and Yes/No/Not Given questions, only one question is “Not Given”. And, this was not the first time I had got this question.
By the way, you can ask me specific questions here or send me a message on TikTok, Instagram, and email. I will get back to you personally.

Only one “Not Given” in a section?
Now, let’s get back to the question at hand. My answer is: IT IS NOT TRUE!
You may get more than one “Not Given” question in one T/F/NG and Y/N/NG section in IELTS Reading. So, that means the number of NG questions is NOT FIXED!
In True False Not Given,
Here is what you know for sure.
- In most cases, there is at least one True question, one False question, and one Not Given question.
- No one-answer section, such as all True or all False.
- Several questions in a row can be of the same answer, so there’s no need to panic if you have 3 true answers in a row.
Moreover, it is important to remember that there are a lot of tricks in IELTS Reading and many of them appear in True/False/Not Given. One of the most common tricks is explained in this post 👉 Get 9.0 by avoiding these tricks in IELTS Reading.
Now that the myth has been busted, it’s time to put what you’ve learned into practice.
