A Myth about True False Not Given in IELTS Reading

Recently, someone on TikTok commented asking if it was true that in True/False/Not Given and Yes/No/Not Given questions, only one question is “Not Given”. And, this was not the first time I had got this question.

By the way, you can ask me specific questions here or send me a message on TikTok, Instagram, and email. I will get back to you personally.

Only one “Not Given” in a section?

Now, let’s get back to the question at hand. My answer is: IT IS NOT TRUE!

You may get more than one “Not Given” question in one T/F/NG and Y/N/NG section in IELTS Reading. So, that means the number of NG questions is NOT FIXED!

In True False Not Given,

Here is what you know for sure.

  1. In most cases, there is at least one True question, one False question, and one Not Given question.
  2. No one-answer section, such as all True or all False.
  3. Several questions in a row can be of the same answer, so there’s no need to panic if you have 3 true answers in a row.

Moreover, it is important to remember that there are a lot of tricks in IELTS Reading and many of them appear in True/False/Not Given. One of the most common tricks is explained in this post 👉 Get 9.0 by avoiding these tricks in IELTS Reading.

Now that the myth has been busted, it’s time to put what you’ve learned into practice.

Ask me a question

Please be specific with your question. Questions like “How to improve Reading” are NOT specific. You need to describe the problems you are facing so I can answer you.

Think about me as your IELTS doctor and you are feeling IELTS-unwell. For me to “diagnose” you, you need to explain IN DETAIL what is troubling you.
