Did you even know that the IELTS Certificate has an expiry date?
For me, the most annoying part of your IELTS Score, whatever score you get, is that it “expires” after two years. Yes, you read it correctly. Your IELTS certificate is valid ONLY FOR 2 YEARS from the issuance date. Do native English-speaking countries assume we forget how to speak English after two years? How frustrating, right?
This is why it is important to plan your test.
If you are taking IELTS for migration, you will have to check the migration process and requirements ahead to make sure the score remains valid for the required period.
For example, some countries require that your IELTS Score is valid during the entire period that the migration process takes place, which, in many cases, is more than a year. This means that you need to ensure you start the migration process immediately after you get your IELTS Score. On the other hand, some other countries are more flexible and only require the IELTS Score to be valid upon getting the invite and you can update your score along the way. Either way, you should make sure that your IELTS Certificate is still valid by the time your process is done. You should check the migration process of the country you want to migrate to or a trusted migration agency.
If you are taking IELTS Academic, most schools won’t accept an expired IELTS Score upon submitting your application so make sure your IELTS Certificate is up-to-date.
Our advice for you is to submit the most recent IELTS Certificate.
Whether you are migrating or applying for a university, it is advised that you use the most recent IELTS Certificate. This means you should take the IELTS Exam no more than 2 months before your submission deadline because sometimes, it takes more than a month to get your result.
And what should you do before taking the exam? Practice.
